What is coaching?

The International Coach Federation defines coaching as an ongoing professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives.
Coaching honors the client as the expert in his/her life and work and believes that every client is creative, resourceful, and whole. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve performance, produce fulfilling results, and enhance their quality of life.
Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.

Our coaching philosophy:

Coaching is a co-created relationship enabling you to maximize personal performance and results. You will engage in an honest, trusting, non-judgmental choice oriented relationship that is 100% confidential. Your coach, sitting outside the daily madness of life, will
-Discover, clarify, and align with what you want to achieve
-Be a sounding board for deeper self discovery
-Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
-Hold you accountable to your commitments
-Support you in maintaining perspective
-Provide tools and constructive feedback.
-Respectfully challenge and encourage you to stretch grow
You will be empowered and unstoppable!

In simple English, coaching is safe place to check in, be heard, be complete, reflect, get centered, rejuvenate, grow and flourish.

How does coaching work?

You will have an initial consultation with a coach by phone and begin figuring out what you would like to get out of coaching. If both of you agree to work together in a powerful coaching relationship, you choose the focus of conversation, while your coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and will move you into action. Coaching accelerates your progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choices leading to effective action. Coaching concentrates on where you are now and what you are willing to do to get where you want to be.

Typically, coaching sessions for 50 minutes each week, are scheduled in advance and held via the telephone. You can be at home, school or even at the office. Just find a quiet space where you can have some privacy and call your coach at the scheduled time. You will be amazed at how effective and powerful these phone sessions are.

Realistically to achieve lasting growth, most coaches recommend a minimum 3 month commitment. In fact, much of the action/growth/results happen between the coaching calls which are supplemented by email, fax and 5 min “power calls” as needed. We acknowledge that results are in direct correlation with the client’s true desires, choices and actions, in conjunction with the coach's efforts and application of coaching skills.

If you are located in the vicinity of Brooklyn NY and would like to have some of your sessions in person, you can discuss it with your coach and arrange for a mutually convenient time.

Will my coach keep the details of our sessions confidential?
Absolutely! Your coach understands that trust is a cornerstone of an effective coaching relationship and your conversations remain 100% confidential unless there is a risk of physical harm to self or others. If you are still a minor, your coach will broker an agreement with you and your parents and create boundaries around what will and will not be shared.

What Coaching is not?

Coaching is not psychotherapy.
Is coaching a replacement for therapy? No. If there are diagnosed mental health issues, coaching will not replace the required psychotherapy services. In some situations, coaching can be included as part of the recovery team in support of the psychotherapy. Coaching is generally appropriate for people who are functioning well and wanting to enhance their life skills.

How does coaching differ from therapy?
